The Enforcers
An obs-doc series following High Court Enforcement officers who evict unwanted tenants from homes, offices and squats. With household debt at a record high, the Enforcers have never been busier. Cars, electrical goods and cash are taken, but not without a struggle. We witness the officers being verbally and physically assaulted in the line of duty. But it’s an invaluable service. If they don’t collect money for creditors, the knock on effect on other businesses would be catastrophic.
The Enforcers also deal with highly organised political squatters, and the traveller and gypsy community. Even though there are over 100,000 designated sites to accommodate them, the officers are constantly called in to clear them from public land. This documentary series stands on the frontline of protest Britain, but it’s told with wit, humanity and warmth.
